Happy Almost Turkey Day!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I thought I would take a minute and make a post today before being swallowed by all the Christmas boxes that I have out. Wow, I always forget how many boxes there are. I usually get started with the decorations around Thanksgiving, but since I am hosting my family Christmas this year I decided to start a couple days early. I always pack away all of the "knick knacks" that I have (everywhere). The one area I never have decorated is a china cabinet that I have in my kitchen.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BqBQyTNX4g0/UpYBdPg8hwI/AAAAAAAAAag/9DR_GWhZ4a4/s1600/WP_20131126_023.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BqBQyTNX4g0/UpYBdPg8hwI/AAAAAAAAAag/9DR_GWhZ4a4/s320/WP_20131126_023.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This cabinet is one of the many things that made me fall in love with this house 17+ years ago.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I thought it would be nice this year to change things up. This is where I had my teapots and I still love my them but I think next year they will be hanging off my fence at the back of the yard with flowers in them. I am just ready for some changes! I can still enjoy them out there and have this cabinet for other things too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
BUT, before I pack them away I thought that I would show you some of my little beauties. This is not all of them as I have another box somewhere of others. But these are the ones that I had on display.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These two sets came one from my Mom and one from my MIL.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cfNm04zq6_M/UpYDhnYrwFI/AAAAAAAAAbM/sbN1kX5LWcY/s1600/WP_20131126_005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cfNm04zq6_M/UpYDhnYrwFI/AAAAAAAAAbM/sbN1kX5LWcY/s320/WP_20131126_005.jpg" width="180" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zJxjdqeDWvs/UpYDMNX0wkI/AAAAAAAAAas/sWSwXYz77DE/s1600/WP_20131126_003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zJxjdqeDWvs/UpYDMNX0wkI/AAAAAAAAAas/sWSwXYz77DE/s320/WP_20131126_003.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A couple that I bought at a garage sales.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q6-EX6DdHPE/UpYD1mQyn8I/AAAAAAAAAbs/GbpC6uU4Fig/s1600/WP_20131126_010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q6-EX6DdHPE/UpYD1mQyn8I/AAAAAAAAAbs/GbpC6uU4Fig/s320/WP_20131126_010.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love these mini ones! The two really smalls are wood (actually ornaments from an Easter tree decoration that I have) and the Victorian Lady is glass and she opens at the waist. The trivets are ones I made years ago.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9W9SOdzJSlk/UpYDe8sKZmI/AAAAAAAAAbE/bzedhxZvXOs/s1600/WP_20131126_006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9W9SOdzJSlk/UpYDe8sKZmI/AAAAAAAAAbE/bzedhxZvXOs/s320/WP_20131126_006.jpg" width="180" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-56ap67R0GLs/UpYDklOF2qI/AAAAAAAAAbU/1eSd2Jjzqyw/s1600/WP_20131126_007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-56ap67R0GLs/UpYDklOF2qI/AAAAAAAAAbU/1eSd2Jjzqyw/s320/WP_20131126_007.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Red, white and blue one is from my sister and the roses set is another garage sale beauty.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zBR7Tli3mp4/UpYEBpB4mnI/AAAAAAAAAb8/AFfch0nAWJU/s1600/WP_20131126_013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zBR7Tli3mp4/UpYEBpB4mnI/AAAAAAAAAb8/AFfch0nAWJU/s320/WP_20131126_013.jpg" width="180" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E2rO2ZvCgvY/UpYDzCI5T1I/AAAAAAAAAbg/8spvsx6Y050/s1600/WP_20131126_008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E2rO2ZvCgvY/UpYDzCI5T1I/AAAAAAAAAbg/8spvsx6Y050/s320/WP_20131126_008.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I bought both of these sets (different places) new. The brown set is one of my favorites </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zYPNjZf-8Vc/UpYDycsBgPI/AAAAAAAAAbc/Zrp2Sh8Ux2o/s1600/WP_20131126_011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zYPNjZf-8Vc/UpYDycsBgPI/AAAAAAAAAbc/Zrp2Sh8Ux2o/s320/WP_20131126_011.jpg" width="180" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3KTHi8I21ZE/UpYD-K5p8KI/AAAAAAAAAb0/biVkFttYouk/s1600/WP_20131126_012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3KTHi8I21ZE/UpYD-K5p8KI/AAAAAAAAAb0/biVkFttYouk/s320/WP_20131126_012.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I LOVE this white set! Its another garage sale find, but the shape and design just caught my eye.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The other set is a teapot from my Mom and the cups are from my MIL. The cups actually came from Japan with her when she married my FIL.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
:o) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the spring when I dig out the other box of teapots I will post pics of those too, and hopefully pics of them with flowers and hanging on my fence!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A couple more quick pics. When I was setting up my Fall Deco, I didn't do close up pictures of a couple things that I think a few of you might like to see.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This little witches hat I made out of tiny little brooms</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my book pumpkin that I made last year...I made the back of mine flat so that it can rest against a wall.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This GORGEOUS needlepoint cornucopia my Mom made years ago. I was thrilled to get to hang it up with my fall decorations this year. She has such a talent!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the last thought I will leave you for today....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made MANY and sold many of these over the years.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But I still believe it to be true!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That's it for me today. I hope that you are all surrounded with Love, Family, Friends and good food tomorrow. Be safe in your travels!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(and remember to RECYCLE those plates and tin pans!)</div>

Hello world!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thought I would post today what I just finished up this morning. My Sister-in-law showed me a pin of some snack bandoliers and wanted to know if I would be willing to let her use my sewing machine (with a bit of help) to make them. She doesn't sew a lot but has basic skills and just needed a little backup. She mentioned a sewing machine that she has...but said something about it being in a closet waaaaaaay at the back. LOL</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Needless to say I jumped at the chance to spend time with her and to have a fun project to work on! Especially one for little boys! Being the Mom of girls, little boy things aren't something I have made for years. When my nephews were little I made Halloween costumes for them and enjoyed every moment but that was 20+ years ago.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I happened to have some great boy fabric that I offered up for her to use and we got started. We got a bit of a late start, and snow was moving in so we didn't quite finish them that day and I offered to finish them up this morning. One more project completed! Woot! I wont go thru all the steps as you can find them on the link I will provide. We did do one thing differently, by adding some elastic to the bottom of them making them able to "grow" with the child.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HiKH2DPhpTM/UouOFZOiNhI/AAAAAAAAAaE/2d1lexb2T8w/s1600/WP_20131119_001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HiKH2DPhpTM/UouOFZOiNhI/AAAAAAAAAaE/2d1lexb2T8w/s640/WP_20131119_001.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We made two (for twin boys)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7802LfYQGBg/Uouilc4oxYI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/xLJSKg6NDxc/s1600/WP_20131119_006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7802LfYQGBg/Uouilc4oxYI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/xLJSKg6NDxc/s640/WP_20131119_006.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Little Missy was gracious enough to be my model</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pj's and all lol</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you can see the cars fit great and have room in the bottom for snacks!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was a fun project and I would recommend it to anyone.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now to get started on a girly one to give Little Missy for Christmas.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ours will be the right size to hold Barbies and PINK!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the link to the website with the instructions:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://whip-stitch.com/snack-bandolier/">http://whip-stitch.com/snack-bandolier/</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On a side note, I am so tickled to say that I have now 401 followers on Pinterest! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am not sure that I should be so excited but I am.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So many people that have the same interests is thrilling to me!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks to all who stop to check out my corner of the world.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until next time be safe in all you do, and hold good thoughts for those caught in that horrible weather this past weekend.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Oh what a beautiful day...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have this beautiful feeling...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Everything's going my way!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As I woke up this morning that was the song that popped into my head. I remember in middle school choir singing that. Frankly at that age I didn't care for the song, but now pushing 50 I totally get it LOL. Here in Illinois we are getting a couple cooler days and the leaves are finally starting to change. Fall has always been my favorite time of year and this year is no different. Though I have this sneaking feeling that it it preceding a bad winter...but for today I refuse to think about it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As I sit here I am enjoying a nice hot cup of Spiced Tea. This is a drink that I remember my mom getting the recipe for when I was in my teens. I haven't had it for YEARS. I mentioned to her the other day that I could really go for a cup and she of course had the recipe still. My Mom ROCKS. So today I share with you a fall treat I hope that you enjoy it as I am right this moment.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Av9IHotqd1Q/UlQKugesFEI/AAAAAAAAAZg/3MRGJw9yLgE/s1600/WP_20131006_006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Av9IHotqd1Q/UlQKugesFEI/AAAAAAAAAZg/3MRGJw9yLgE/s400/WP_20131006_006.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><u><span style="font-size: large;">Spiced Tea</span></u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/3 Cup Lemonade Mix</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/2 Cup Instant Tea</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Cup Tang</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3/4 Cup Sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/4 Teaspoon Cloves</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Mix all ingredients thoroughly and store in an airtight container.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Add 1-1/2 to 2 Tablespoons per boiling cup of water or to your </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
personal taste.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A couple notes here.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I doubled this recipe and it fit perfectly into a 1 Liter container.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I found a 2T. coffee scoop and use that to leave in the mix.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also used UNsweetened tea. I just felt that with the other ingredients</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
there was enough sugar already involved.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
YUMMY!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Time to make some pumpkin bread lol.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One more addition to this post today. I have spent a lot of time perusing the Autumn Decoration Boards on Pinterest (and loving every minute of it!) I kept seeing these adorable crocheted pumpkins and knew that I had to give it a try. So today I bring to you my version!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These were sooooo fun to make! I am working on another set with some multi color and thinking I might add some raffia to these. I didn't look for a tutorial but I am sure that there were some out there. I tend to just kinda wing it most of the time and use the pictures as inspiration. I am adding a couple links that inspired me! Or check out my Autumn board on Pinterest.</div>
Well fellow travelers that's it for today. Gotta get my fanny in gear here and get ready to take Mom to her Dr's appointment. Glad that I had a moment to share with you all and I hope that I brought a smile to at least one face. Blessings to each and every one of you.</div>
YAY!Well, just over a year since I have posted and my life has changed so much. Last I posted I was getting ready for a craft show and never made it. It came about that my Mom could no longer live alone and so I stopped working on crafts and pretty much everything else and started remodeling (with the help of family and hubby) 3 rooms of our house to make a "mini apartment" for my Mom. Here I am just over a year later after many visits to the ER, a crash course in Medicare (holy moly) Nursing homes and Hospitals later and thrilled to say that my Mom is on the mend and doing awesome! Well enough that I have time to do a few of the things that I was doing previous to her moving in. She will be 82 in December and absolutely is an inspiration to me personally. Its a great joy to have her here and to have her get to know her littlest granddaughter better. Bless her heart she has really handled having a 4 year old under foot constantly like a champ! Of course I am the youngest of 6 so...she had a clue to start with. lol<br />
<br />
So today I wanted to share with the world at large some of the Autumn decorations that I have put together. Some are inspired by Pins on Pinterest (thats one thing I have managed to do this past year!) and some are just my own. None the less I wanted to share and show.<br />
<br />
I will be trying to get back more often now that things are settling down...but we still average about 2 doctor visits a week and time just escapes me. But I do promise it wont be a year!<br />
<br />
Please enjoy and Happy Autumn to you all!<br />
This is the Buffet in my dining room.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Below are some closer views of a few of the things on it</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my Autumn Girl. I used to make these girls for craft shows. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The grasses are out of my yard mixed with some dried flowers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Love the way it turned out!</div>
The middle section of the Buffet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The bottle at the top right is old, was some sort of medicinal type bottle.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
bottom left is the pumpkin that I cut out of a book last year, that was sooo fun to make!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just to the right of the pumpkin is my lantern, have had that for years and on Pinterest the other day </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I saw that people were filling them with pinecones, so naturally I had to too! </div>
The dust pan is probably 50 years old from my Great Uncles hardware store, it was</div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Good morning!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We have a lovely sunny morning here and since my thumb and middle finger are numb from sewing, I thought I would take a break from crazy crafting and make a post. :)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I also have a peek at what I have been working on for my upcoming craft show that I am participating in, in October.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-62eXhpyZHCo/UDzr0nLOWCI/AAAAAAAAAWA/4_32DEfEAjw/s1600/IMG_054111249.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-62eXhpyZHCo/UDzr0nLOWCI/AAAAAAAAAWA/4_32DEfEAjw/s320/IMG_054111249.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZLX1jc5QiEk/UDzrx6D4R4I/AAAAAAAAAV4/Kp8SWjG4DU8/s1600/IMG_054011248.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZLX1jc5QiEk/UDzrx6D4R4I/AAAAAAAAAV4/Kp8SWjG4DU8/s320/IMG_054011248.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In trying to figure out what to make for this show, I decided to tackle cleaning out my fabric closet. Let me tell you that was a process! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Our house has looked like a fabric bomb went off in it for several weeks. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">What a job that was. I literally have one full closet full of fabric. All of it had been shoved in to boxes and shoved in to the closet and none of it was organized. UGGG</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> Now though every type of fabric has its own box (or boxes in some cases lol) so </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">when I open the closet I no longer scream and close the door quickly. :)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">While cleaning out the closet, I found that I have enough polyester to clothe my Mom's retirement community. Hmm what to do with it all? Braided rugs... that's what!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I made one of these years ago for myself and I love it. They are durable and feel good on your tootsies when you walk on them. Its a lot of work and my fingers are in pain but I get more excited the further I get and just had to show it off a little. I will post a pic when done. The outside edge will be the dark purple and it should measure out to about 3x3...I think. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I hope that where ever you are in the world that your day is a good one, filled with Love, Laughter and Friends/Family and Good Health!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I will post again when the rug is done (hopefully in the next day or so.)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><3 to all!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
Greetings to all!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We have an overcast day here, but thankfully have had just a tad of rain the last couple days. At least enough to green up some of the grass. So sad to look around and everything looks yellow and the poor farmers! How they must be worrying. Hopefully this is just one of those hot summers and next year things will be a bit more normal.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Before I get to the Monogram letter(s), I wanted to give a quick update. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have decided to do a craft show coming up in October. I am so excited! I haven't done a craft show in years...at least 16 years. So needless to say life here in our house is a on overdrive. Just wanted to let everyone know why I will be even more sporadic in my postings than so far. I will try to pop in here and there to let you know what I am working on, but much of what I am doing I have already covered in earlier postings.<span style="background-color: white;"> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: #660000; color: white;">That brings me to today's post!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: #660000; color: white;">All over Pinterst there are pins for Monogram Letters. Oh my goodness there are TONS of them. I will post a couple links but if you want more type in "monogram letters" to the search engine in Pinterest and you will be amazed. There are so many varieties, its absolutely inspiring. I wanted to give a try to one with my own touches. :)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: #660000; color: white;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: #660000; color: white;">Here is the result:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0oFHss5JcnE/UBFsM7B8U2I/AAAAAAAAAVk/hwlsXUVkzsQ/s1600/IMG_050911205+(1).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0oFHss5JcnE/UBFsM7B8U2I/AAAAAAAAAVk/hwlsXUVkzsQ/s320/IMG_050911205+(1).jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love Love LOVE the way it turned out! I am a fan of blue jean and try to work it into most things I make.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used a bit of ribbon woven in (some easter ribbon that I had) to add some color here and there. I can hardly wait to get it up on the wall! It is going on a bright yellow wall so that blue jean will really pop! I will add another picture later, but was too excited to wait.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Have you done any Letters? If so how did you do yours?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope that you enjoyed seeing my creativity for today and I will be back as time and new things permit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Happy Sunday to all! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Today we have a blissful summer day. I am sitting in the warm breeze with low humidity and its absolutely wonderful. Finally a break from the 100+ degree days we have been having and I am going to take full advantage of it!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">But while I was stuck in the air conditioning the last few days I did do a fun project! Here is the pin for my inspiration: <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/256775616224450475/">http://pinterest.com/pin/256775616224450475/</a> When I pinned this I was so excited to do it! I obtained some clean pizza boxes from our favorite pizza place and then was stumped as to what to do next. LOL The boxes used in the pin were different from the ones I had and so honestly I just shoved the boxes and the project to the back of my head. In the mean time, a fellow freecycler gave me some computer keyboards for another project that I have in mind. The keyboards actually all came in boxes! Again the pin came back to me as I looked at these boxes for the last several weeks.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Enough babble :o) </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Here is what I started with:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Six lovely keyboard boxes...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and here is what I made them into!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y7aVO5T2FUM/T_nHqnsCNbI/AAAAAAAAAU0/UdzkNOZFlQs/s1600/DSCN2451.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y7aVO5T2FUM/T_nHqnsCNbI/AAAAAAAAAU0/UdzkNOZFlQs/s320/DSCN2451.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am pretty tickled with the way this turned out!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It will fit on my shelf and will be sturdy enough to hold cardstock and papers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If anyone is interested in the process it took to make this I will be glad to post some pictures and simple instructions of what I did.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I will tackle those pizza boxes!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Maybe you should order a pizza today? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
:o)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I have yet to meet a little one that doesn't LOVE to blow bubbles. I know that Little Missy really gets a charge out it. I don't mind bubbles in the house or outside but the only issue I have is that every time she bends over to pop a bubble while holding the container, she spills them. That's Ok outside (except the waste part) but inside it's a bit on the messy side.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">So here is how I have solved this issue:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G_d9hoq7BWw/T_RdguoCrrI/AAAAAAAAAUI/eoIZ5lSYW9Y/s1600/DSCN2435.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G_d9hoq7BWw/T_RdguoCrrI/AAAAAAAAAUI/eoIZ5lSYW9Y/s320/DSCN2435.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oC-fq9hqYJE/T_Rd0J0eZ0I/AAAAAAAAAUQ/lcqC2Y7E8ig/s1600/DSCN2436.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oC-fq9hqYJE/T_Rd0J0eZ0I/AAAAAAAAAUQ/lcqC2Y7E8ig/s320/DSCN2436.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y9P0XAD2J5A/T_ReGOoWqlI/AAAAAAAAAUY/AlXWXxFMzdE/s1600/DSCN2437.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y9P0XAD2J5A/T_ReGOoWqlI/AAAAAAAAAUY/AlXWXxFMzdE/s320/DSCN2437.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I took a wire coat hanger and used the hook to hold the bubbles bending it a bit to fit, cutting open the body of it to make some hangers for the back. I covered any sharp edges with electrical tape to protect her little fingers.<span style="background-color: #990000;"> <span style="color: white;">The nice thing is almost every room has some place that I can hook this and this morning while she was playing in her "Poodle" (Little Missy speak for Pool) we hooked it right on the edge and she was able to blow bubbles while taking a dip in COLD water.</span></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">How do you keep the bubble spillage down? Do you have a nifty tip or trick? </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I would love to hear it if you do.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">As I was taking the picture for the memory notes from Daddy, I noticed our recycling station that we have set up in our kitchen. I say station, but really its a small area next to our garbage can. We take recycling pretty seriously here and make sure that we recycle as much as possible. Here is a picture:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_VBsTlACneg/T_RZTvJPxCI/AAAAAAAAAT0/YoqLkq_uAQc/s1600/DSCN2434.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_VBsTlACneg/T_RZTvJPxCI/AAAAAAAAAT0/YoqLkq_uAQc/s320/DSCN2434.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The top bag is for cans. We always rinse them out and take the tabs off. A friend of mine has the energy to actually take these to the recycling center to turn them in, and I am happy to save them for her! Can you see the pizza box? That where our cardboard goes. We always open the ends and flatten it out. The bottom brown bag is for all that chunky plastic stuff. I always try to sort it out for our recycle guy, just feels like I am saving him a step in a job that I really appreciate him doing. Then of course we have the big bins outside that the stuff goes in to.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">How do you recycle?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I am always interested to hear how other people do things, share your ideas with us!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The first on my itty bitty mind is the Little Missy. I have mentioned before that we are "older" parents. Little Missy is 3. I am 46 and Hubby is 54. He and I have had many conversations about how to raise this little mid life gem. We are sticking with some of our ideals from the older girls but we are very conscious about the fact that this little one may not have the memories that the older girls will have when we are gone. (KNOCK on wood, thats a ways off!) One of the things that I came up with is this...</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hyZSYh3TDl0/T_RWXCQZYUI/AAAAAAAAATk/MM7DyRmtbOY/s1600/DSCN2432.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hyZSYh3TDl0/T_RWXCQZYUI/AAAAAAAAATk/MM7DyRmtbOY/s320/DSCN2432.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">This obviously is our coffee counter...we would not function with out our morning coffee!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Hubby is up at 4ish each morning and we have our timer set for the coffee to be ready when he is up and going. Since he leaves so early in the mornings Little Missy never gets to see him until the evening when he gets home. That makes for a long long day even tho she talks to him at lunch time almost every day. So I set up a Daddy note station by the coffee maker for Daddy to leave notes to his girl. He's not much of a "writer" and his hand writing at times can be unreadable...but bless his heart he has really taken to this idea! I put several sizes of post its in a basket with a pen, so that he needn't search for those items. The giraffe has a clip on the back (up on his head) that he can clip the notes to. Now Little Missy heads straight for the giraffe each morning for her "dose of Daddy". It's very sweet, and those notes follow her thru the day. Eventually I will gather them all up and make a scrap book page for her with them, but for now they are her treasures.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">What do you do to make memories for your kiddos? I would love to hear!</span></div>~Lanahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00403166678803316959noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1433201290731169972.post-34383421470755531812012-07-04T07:40:00.001-07:002012-07-04T07:40:21.757-07:00Happy 4th of July Everyone!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Looks like it will be a HOT 4th here! Just barely 8am and so muggy and sticky that its hard to breathe! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Should still be a fun day tho, I picked up some fun activities for the Little Missy. Her first year with sparklers and pop its, snapits and streamers! Should be a fun if not NOISY day here. Throw in some grilled meat and veggies, the pool and sprinkler and we have a lovely relaxing holiday here. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But for this morning I had several things on my mind and thought that I would share them with you, maybe even spark a bit of conversation here. :o) I originally was going to make this one post but decided that several smaller ones would be better. So watch for that coming up today. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope that you all have a blessed and safe holiday. Drink LOTS of water and Thank God above and our Soldiers for the many blessings we will all enjoy today.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Peace and love...spread it with a smile today.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sheesh, where was your mind at?<br />
LOL forgive me, its blazing hot here and my brain is nearly fried. None the less tho I wanted to make a post about what we did today!<br />
<br />
On Pinterst...(You had to know that was coming!) I saw a post about how to make butter in a baby food jar and we just had to try it. Here is the link so that you can try for yourself if you wish.<br />
<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/256775616224910336/">http://pinterest.com/pin/256775616224910336/</a>
<br />
<br />
A couple notes: Make sure that as you are shaking you keep checking your jars. We did have one jar that cracked at the bottom. Just something to be cautious of, no one likes eating glass shards! After getting our butter done we made one jar honey butter and the other garlic/parsley. Both were heaven! I had read on another post like this that they put in a dash of salt (and used nickels rather than marbles). I was going to do that and then forgot, I didnt miss it tho since our flavorings were pretty awesome. It was a great way to show Little Missy how a liquid can turn into a solid and it was just plain fun and yummy!<br />
<br />
So if you are looking for a fun something that doesnt take forever give it a try and then eat the fruits or in this case the "butter" of your labor. <br />
<br />
With that, I am off to eat more butter...I hear it calling my name. Before I go here is a thought to ponder.<br />
<br />
Our morning here started well before 6 am...much to my disappointment. Since we were up and moving so very early (and the coffee kicked in pretty fast) I decided today was the day to tackle a project I have put off for several years. I was given one of those glider rockers about 10 years ago. When I got it, it was not in great shape, but we put it on the front porch and there it has set since then. Ok so I am slow...already noted! Since we have had such dry hot weather I felt I was safe in attacking this right were the glider sits. This bad boy is heavy and I didn't have THAT much energy. I was sanding the wood by 7 and painting by 9:30. Woohoo gettin stuff done~! When all the sudden someone has turned off the sun! What the heck? I turn around and the clouds were moving in. They were incredible looking, so I grabbed a tarp to cover the swing (uggg) my camera (borrowed from Sissy really need to get one of my own someday) and a fresh cup of coffee and then sat on the porch steps to watch these clouds roll in. Normally I wouldn't think to post this but the last picture that I took was kinda spooky eerie and I had to have witness! LOL So here we go from the top...dont mind the yellow dry looking grass...we NEED rain!</div>
Good Friday Morning to all.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Has been a couple busy weeks here. Starting with a tree (or half of a tree) coming down in our back yard. Normally this would not be such a big deal but it happen to be the tree that our Little Missy's swing was in. No fear, it was the OTHER half of the tree that came down, but needless to say her tree swinging days are over. Since there are no other suitable trees to hang her swing from (mostly because one at a time they have all come down from storms etc.) we had to figure something else out. I started searching for a swing set and found that Walmart had a small metal one for 60.00. It was small, but it fit in our budget and so we ordered it. It took just about a week for them to get it shipped to the store. Now I understand you get what you pay for, we did purposely pick the cheapest one because that was our budget allowed for. Little Missy and I were very excited waiting for it to come in and finally last Friday it did. Hubby didn't have time until Sunday to put it up and thankfully he started on it at 5 in the morning or she wouldn't have had a chance to use it until Monday. For heavens sakes, the instructions were certainly lacking. So many tips they could have given to make it an easier job. But more than the instructions it was the way things fit together that were perplexing. Again hubby and I found ourselves in a discussion about the quality of the toys now vs. say 21 years ago when our middle daughter was little. This has been discussed several times since Little Missy was born 3 years ago. It just seems that quality doesn't extend to the lower price items. As if we who cannot afford the very best don't deserve to have things that fit properly. I am sure that's an exaggeration but sometimes its how it feels to have these items that don't fit together the way they should. I say charge me a couple more dollars and make the instructions sensible and the parts fit better~</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Uggg. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ok thats my "rant" for today...sorry just needed to get it out!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So during all of this Father's Day has come and gone and I never did upload pictures of our gift to Daddy. It started with an idea from Pinterest. Here is the link.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/85075880430303638/">http://pinterest.com/pin/85075880430303638/</a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I thought that was the cutest idea! I took it a step further and we used the cardboard case from Daddys favorite kind of beer for our cut out. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aE5Psugb6i0/T-3lx0mqT_I/AAAAAAAAARk/UfA9JctRTq0/s1600/DSCN2412.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aE5Psugb6i0/T-3lx0mqT_I/AAAAAAAAARk/UfA9JctRTq0/s320/DSCN2412.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was late in the day and the only way that I could get the picture was to get up on a ladder! Thats my arm there over the top. Well, let me tell you when we (Big Sissy the middle daughter) and I saw this picture we laughed ourselves silly. It looks like I am trying to show off my bicep or something. Still makes me laugh to see it now. So we decided it was the perfect picture for Daddy (since after 20+ years of marriage he already knows Momma is a goof ball!)! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We found our frame and decided on blue jean as our mat background. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XSfBNiqePOI/T-3oFBNx3XI/AAAAAAAAARs/QncFZCBk2aU/s1600/DSCN2416.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XSfBNiqePOI/T-3oFBNx3XI/AAAAAAAAARs/QncFZCBk2aU/s320/DSCN2416.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We took this yet another step further and used our cardboard cutouts to make a couple other pictures for daddy's garage area. I had some saved some paintings Little Missy had done that had pretty colors in them. The paintings were done with that Crayola Color Wonder paint. When it dries it has a semi glossy look to it and colors that are surprisingly vibrant. Here is a link to that product, I have to say its one thing we have purchased that she really enjoys and it works just the way they say it does!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www2.crayola.com/products/splash/color_wonder/magic_light_brush/index.cfm">http://www2.crayola.com/products/splash/color_wonder/magic_light_brush/index.cfm</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I took the paintings she had done and backed the cutout part in the cardboard so her pretty colors were showing thru then made a cardboard frame for it and covered it with more blue jean. Now he has 3 pictures instead of just one~! I have to say he really seemed to enjoy it and that made us very happy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are the other two pictures the way they turned out. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wswTJyhcjqM/T-3qGfQzIMI/AAAAAAAAAR0/_kvR41-ivHI/s1600/DSCN2417.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wswTJyhcjqM/T-3qGfQzIMI/AAAAAAAAAR0/_kvR41-ivHI/s320/DSCN2417.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fsqCw7eOtAc/T-3qbCesf6I/AAAAAAAAAR8/G5mumi-yy-8/s1600/DSCN2418.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fsqCw7eOtAc/T-3qbCesf6I/AAAAAAAAAR8/G5mumi-yy-8/s320/DSCN2418.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes, I know there is a glare. But the good thing is you can really see the texture of the paint when it dries. It's pretty cool. Not the most glamorous gift in the world...but our guy liked it. So many fathers day ideas that were out there had a mans tie as a part of the them. Our guy is not a tie guy. He is a car guy and so we wanted our gift to fit him and I think we succeeded. Usually his gifts are Car related, so it was fun to have something different for him...and he can put it up in the garage...thats close to the car. lol</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lets see...cleaning up the tree mess, putting up a swing set and fathers day plus the incredible heat that we are all experiencing has kept me from my blogging duties. I did manage to find some time to check out pinterest along the way as well as some much needed reading on blogging. Feel free to look me up on Pinterest, such a fun place to get inspired and I have found some really fun pins lately, my recycling board and craft boards seem to be popular as well as the crochet and knitting ones. I would love to hear from ANY of you about your boards...always looking for new pinners to follow!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I will be making a couple other posts today, but for now I leave you with a quote to ponder (lol I felt it was fitting given the fathers day gift)</div>
What a morning! In between a walk with Little Missy to collect rocks and flowers (and to wear her out) as well as cleaning up one small flower area in the yard that needed attention, I did get to check out some FUN/INSPIRATIONAL/AWESOME/FANTASTIC/CREATIVE (the list could go on and on) folks that have done some recycling with cardboard. Today in my pinterest search I found a BUNCH of sites to look at, all of them with cardboard house creations! What a feast for my eyes! It is actually hard to sit here right now posting this because I hear the cardboard calling my name! But, I had promised this update and so here I am babbling away. :o)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After this post (coming soon...) I will be adding some links to these lovely creations I am talking about. I am so impressed at all of the creativity from the smallest details to the largest. What I love the most is that they are all different! We are so blessed to each have our own creative imagination. Certainly no cookie cutter houses here!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway on to this post...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had mentioned in the original post that I was trying to figure out a way to make some sturdy storage for Little Missy to keep her "goodies" in. I finally figured it out when spotting another box in the garage. Hmmm suddenly the garage is box heaven! On the top of the stack that has suddenly appeared (LOL hubby is getting into this project!) there was a box from Aldi's grocery store. Do you have those by you? Its a bare minimum kinda store, where you bag your own groceries. You either bring your own bags, purchase theirs or find empty boxes thru the store to put your stuff in. Well...ours is from their Hoagie Rolls. I am pretty sure when I saw it there was a certain Glow to it. LOL Suddenly I knew just what I needed to do!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is a picture of the space below her serving counter inside.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ET3k_p9PJ5U/T9eHQk9q6QI/AAAAAAAAAQM/cOb6_CI3lT0/s1600/DSCN2391.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ET3k_p9PJ5U/T9eHQk9q6QI/AAAAAAAAAQM/cOb6_CI3lT0/s320/DSCN2391.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Guess I should have swept up the cardboard shavings before the pic...but yea...well...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the glowing box that I knew would make our shelves perfectly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Amazingly enough it was the exact right size. From the inside corner of the box right to the edge of the counter! I could not believe my luck. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xEKnk-Mn4Kk/T9eIFH00UnI/AAAAAAAAAQY/WhV30u-uvog/s1600/DSCN2392.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xEKnk-Mn4Kk/T9eIFH00UnI/AAAAAAAAAQY/WhV30u-uvog/s320/DSCN2392.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I knew that I wanted these corners to make the shelves. Already pre-made sturdy. I was in heaven. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I checked the depth under her counter and made my measurements inside. I knew I wanted to make a lip for the front of the shelf so that things wouldn't be sliding off of them. I added another inch to allow for that lip.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_gJCi3EHhAs/T9eJN6jcf6I/AAAAAAAAAQg/PZ8ZTU2umh8/s1600/DSCN2393.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_gJCi3EHhAs/T9eJN6jcf6I/AAAAAAAAAQg/PZ8ZTU2umh8/s320/DSCN2393.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After getting it measured (twice...) and cut, I took my first shelf. Measuring in 1 inch on the base I scored it and then put a bend in for the lip on the shelf. I measured in 1 inch on the side and scored it to bend over and use as the front corner. The next picture shows it better. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-O8zj9Q4eTQ0/T9eKGpkkx1I/AAAAAAAAAQo/njAg4vrgqdA/s1600/DSCN2394.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-O8zj9Q4eTQ0/T9eKGpkkx1I/AAAAAAAAAQo/njAg4vrgqdA/s320/DSCN2394.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The bottom got folded up and the side to the front and glued to hold that corner together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DLBouLVsyoc/T9eK_4qijfI/AAAAAAAAAQw/dpuSKzxfFag/s1600/DSCN2395.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DLBouLVsyoc/T9eK_4qijfI/AAAAAAAAAQw/dpuSKzxfFag/s320/DSCN2395.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you can see I did that on both corner shelves as well as painting them. These worked perfectly. They had these tabs on the side of the box that I was able to slide the second shelf into the first one and glue. The two ends of the box are the top two shelves. I had actually intended to stop there until I looked at that middle piece that was left. I decided to make a bottom shelf as well. I cut a piece tall enough to run from the top of the shelves to the bottom as an end piece.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L5L-3mV2m20/T9eNlKr0B3I/AAAAAAAAARA/CHxJBTCboD8/s1600/DSCN2396.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L5L-3mV2m20/T9eNlKr0B3I/AAAAAAAAARA/CHxJBTCboD8/s320/DSCN2396.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once I did that I realized that I had to do the same for the other side and figured that I would paint the wall as well to make it look like a solid unit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-M3GxW_DIRCg/T9eSiK0I4II/AAAAAAAAARQ/9flh38HZlXI/s1600/DSCN2399.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-M3GxW_DIRCg/T9eSiK0I4II/AAAAAAAAARQ/9flh38HZlXI/s320/DSCN2399.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am pretty happy with the end result on this part. When trying to figure out the shelf issue, I hadn't even been considering putting them here. Funny how things work out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After this morning of checking out other "houses", I know I am so not done with this one.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are several things that I will be adding in the future!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now...time to fill them!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to check back when you can. There will be more updates to this one!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am ridiculously excited to make this posting. I have been working on this project since Mothers day weekend and have had so much fun working it all thru. I never imagined that it would take on a life of its own, but in the end I am so tickled with the final product and hope that you will enjoy seeing it from beginning to end or almost the end as I just cannot wait any longer to show you all. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First let me start with the credit. Of course it started with a pin...ahhh man I love those pins! That pin to Childhood 101 site. <a href="http://childhood101.com/2009/12/diy-kids-ice-cream-shop/">http://childhood101.com/2009/12/diy-kids-ice-cream-shop/</a> Christie Burnett did a wonderful blurb on this lovely little icecream shop that she made for her little one and that is where our story begins!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh I was so inspired after I saw that! My brain was churning immediately. Thankfully hubby is a bodyman and has access to BIG boxes. Bless his heart, he came home with a box that was 74"s Long by 28"s tall and 20-3/4"s deep. Standing it on the end was perfect the height and the depth worked as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is a pic of our cafe before we began.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(My Little Missy is sitting there wondering if Mommy's lost her mind...calling this box a cafe!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I started by measuring how tall she was against the box to determine how big we wanted it to be. I want her to be able to play in it as long as she wants to...so we made sure there was growing room before starting our cut. Once I decided how tall it would be I set about trying to cut it. It was a challenge to get the lines straight and I wound up using close pins to hold the yard stick so that I could make my lines nice and straight for cutting. Let me say here, arent clothes pins the greatest? I swear I dont know what I would do with out them! I have a basket full that lives in the craft room and I use them all the time...just look at my curtain! lol</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As you can see when I took the pic my yardstick wasnt quite straight lol, but I assure you I fixed it before cutting....Measure twice ... Cut once! The box wasnt perfect, there were a few "blemishes" as well as the handle holes. My solution was tape on the inside and glue around it on the outside around the edge to seal it. It did work out pretty well I think. I then took the tape off the inside for painting later. Using the top flap of the box for our door worked out very well. Once it was cut to the size we wanted, I had little miss stand inside. We marked where the top of her head came to, where her eyes were and where her hands would rest. For that I had her face the wall we were putting the counter on and hold her arms to her side with her elbows bent. It worked out perfectly! Then I marked where we wanted our serving window.</div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I measured from side to side and found my middle and marked it with a line. From there decided how much of a window we wanted and got to work with my L square to get it marked evenly. I knew I wanted an arch at the top and spent time looking around the house for something big and round to draw around. Everything I had was too small or too big! UGGG. Then the lightbulb popped on. I grabbed a pin, some yarn, scissors and my pencil and made a compass. I stuck the pin in the bottom middle of my window and measured with my yarn from there to the top of where I wanted the window. Cutting the yarn to about an inch past that length so I had room to tie my pencil on. It worked PERFECTLY! I had my arch and I was ready to start cutting.</div>
Imagine a 40+ yr old woman jumping and clapping...that was me after I cut out the window. I was so (am still so...) excited to get started with the fun part. My creative brain was on over drive as I stood there looking at that window...I looked down at the floor where the piece I cut out was laying and inspiration hit me...as it has thru this entire project. Shutters. We need shutters and this cut out piece will be perfect as it gives me the exact size that I need.</div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started by measuring the area beside my windows the UNcut part so that I knew how wide to make the shutters. Then as simple as can be I measured and drew the lines to mark off where I wanted to cut.</div>
I used both a box cutter and an exacto knife when cutting. To get thru those first layers I used the box cutter. The box cutter thats probably 60 years or more old. It was one that was in my Grandpa used and I use frequently. There is that comfort from using things like that I think...or at least for me there is. Anyway...</div>
Now here is where I forgot some pictures...I should have taken more but as I worked I got in this hazy zone and forgot that I was trying to document as well as build. At this point the top of the box was open and I hadnt really decided on how to close it. Above the window there was a bend in the cardboard from the way hubby had to fold it down to bring it home. That spot gave me the perfect opportunity to make an angled top. I slit the front sides from the bend to the top and then built the roof over it. I so wish that I had taken pictures but it was so late at night and...I was in a groove! You can see from the next picture sort of what I am describing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the blog over at childhood101.com she made this lovely little scallop for the front of her shop...that scallop reminded me of some shingles on a victorian house not far from us. Thats where the shingle cutting and making started. Rows and rows of it. I am now officially a pro at cutting cardboard! The shingles were also a way to cover up the gap that I had in making the roof. It was a win win situation. I also (as you can see) cut the counter and fit it in, using the nifty instructions that were included. I have to say tho...this counter gave me fits. I could see my Little Missy...every time she walked in there for measurments, the first thing she did was lean on that counter and say "Can I take your order Sir?". I knew the way it stood now it wasn't going to be tough enough for her~ I tucked that away in my head to mull over as I cut and cut and cut shingles. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used a cup from an individual serving of applesauce (I love those cups! we keep them in a bin where Little Missy can reach them and we use them all the time for snacks and crafts!). Because I wanted the shingles off set from row to row I had to make two different types of cuts as you can see in the picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once I had a bunch cut I started gluing them on to see approximately how many I needed...uhh yea I needed more lol. Back to cutting...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As I was cutting I kept thinking about how much time was going in to this. I definitely wanted to make sure that it was sturdy enough for her to play with and not disintegrate after a week. No one wants to see Mommy cry over a cardboard box. That was when I decided that some reinforcement was needed as well. I cut panels to fit inside and glued them in to give the box more support and durability. Then I finished up the shingles and added some sides to cover the raw edges of the shingles as well as finished off the roof.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I cut the sides to flow along with the shape of the shingles. Hard to see here but in later pics I promise it will be easier! That counter top had me in fits...I kept thinking about it and added some brackets to the sides, hoping that it would give it some extra strength. It did help some but I still wasn't satisfied. Back to thinking some more. This one had me stumped. As I pondered I moved on...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had also been thinking about the shutters. I knew that I wanted detail in them but wasnt sure what. I started with a 1/2" edge around them and then drew lines from side to side (inside of my 1/2" markings). They looked pretty neat but I wanted more. I took my exacto knife and made slits on those lines from side to side and then using a popsicle stick I opened them up. It gave a nice realistic look to them. I will show some close ups as we go.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was ready to paint! The cans of paint were in the corner calling me and I had to start with some color all this brown was making me nuts! But something Little Missy kept saying was ringing in my head. Each time she would enter the box for measurements...she would say "It's weallly dark in here Mommy...". Me thinks its time for some window action too. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I cut a window at each end. One in the door and one in the opposite wall. It did give more light and she was happy about that. I framed the windows as well to give some dimension. And yes...I painted! Weeeee! I am a happy woman with a paint brush in my hand let me tell you! I was nearly giddy with happiness at this point. What a fantastic way to spend my mothersday weekend! Daddy was with our girl keeping her busy so Mommy could play. What a good guy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One thing I want to point out is the top. You can see from here how I contoured the cardboard side to run with the shape of the shingles. I have to say that was fun to figure out how to do it and I was happy with the result.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I kept thinking about that darn counter. This really was niggling at me, while I wracked my brain for an answer I decided to put in yet a third window at the back and added frames to the inside of the windows too. I really didn't want her concerned about the dark and I wanted to make sure she could see out no matter where this cafe ended up. Then it hit me on how to reinforce that counter top. Add another layer and a solid base around it. LIGHT BULB!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I totally encased the counter that I already had there. I found that I had an extra piece of the shingle that didn't get used so it became the front. While building this I had some raw edges exposed on the corners and while I did sand them they still looked raw. I took some strips of card board and removed on side of it. So all that I had left were strips of the outer layer. I used that as a seam cover....which would have been a great solution if I stopped to think about it more. I was using hot glue which worked great for nearly every part of this project...but here where I really needed it to be smooth it wasn't. ACK! My lovely counter top with lumpy bumpy edges rather than raw edges. Sigh. I thought that painting it might help...so I did and it didn't and I was so disgusted with it that I let it sit for a few days and didn't even take a picture of it. I know what you are thinking...for cryin out loud...its a cardboard box! I kept telling myself that but it didn't work.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I took a couple days and did some other fun projects. I took a saw table that my dad made and turned it into a garden bench. It was one of the last big things he made and its imperfections are so dear to me. I know that he would be so happy that I am using it and that is such a great feeling. Little Missy and I got in to some mess too...we tried another pin project...colored shaving cream...but we painted on the sidewalk with it. OH how fun. Shaving cream is our new big thing we love to play with and she even likes it just plain old white too! But back to where we started...in creating this lovely gardening bench for myself, and cleaning out part of the garage I came across a piece of thin white plastic. My dad was a sign maker and I am sure that it came from him, but for the life of me I don't know when. It could have been in the garage for years and I never would have found it if I hadn't been in there cleaning. It didn't hit me right away. I finished cleaning the garage and stood that piece of plastic up with some other boards that I have out there and went back to life. Two days later it hit me...after avoiding my craft room for several days because this counter was ticking me off...I put on my big girl panties and went to look at it again. When I painted it, I used the same color as the shingles and the shutters...it was way too much of that color so that was part of what was bugging me. Then for some reason that plastic popped into my head....could that be the answer? YES! I hear the choir singing the Hallelujah Chorus! </div>
The plastic was thin enough that I was able to cut it with a pair of sharp scissors and sand down the sharp edges. As you can see I painted the bottom black and I think that really worked well. I can honestly say I am thrilled with the result. Thank goodness I never throw stuff away, it is finally paying off! LOL</div>
Now to the nitty gritty. So how much did this cost me? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cardboard: FREE bumper box</div>
Plastic for counter: FREE found item in garage</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The ONLY purchase for this was the hot glue.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had about 10 short sticks on hand when I started and we bought a large package on our next visit to Walmarket. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Total investment for hours of fun:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
$4.74 + tax</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I cannot even tell you how proud that makes me. To be able to make something for my Little Missy that she will enjoy and recycling at the same time! Man, it just doesn't get any better than that for me!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I still have some more details to finish on this. I am going to make some thing to put her bowls and things on, just haven't totally figured that out yet. Also making a chalkboard sign for the front of it so that the special of the day can be changed. I will of course share the those when I have them finished. I simply could not wait any longer to share this with you!</div>
So this morning while checking out a pin on Pinterest. The site I went to was wisebread.com. I went to check out some DIY moon sand and while there I came across a great article entitled: 3 Lessons I've Learned Since Becoming A Parent. Naturally when I saw the title I clicked it... I wanted to see if I learned the same things or was I missing something?<br />
<br />
Its funny I read things like this and what she said is so true from a young first time mothers perspective. Not that it really changes as you get older, just that it becomes more rounded I guess. Then I think of my own situaton, of being a Mom for a second round, in my 40's and how my husband and I decided to approach parenting this time.<br />
<br />
Now dont get me wrong! Our older girls are great and we are proud of them, but with experience and years comes wisdom. Things that would have bothered me when the big girls were little now don't seem such a big deal. Who cares if the playdoh is in the pool? What is it going to hurt really? Now if that type of thing happens, we make a learning experience out of it. What happens when the playdoh gets wet? Does the water turn a different color etc...<br />
<br />
One of the things that's so different is I let my little one sit on the counter by the sink and stove while I cook. I never would have done that years ago. I missed out on a lot by worrying about silly things. <br />
<br />
One of the 3 things (the first actually) that she talks about is "Don't Judge". I think that this is one of the MOST important things we can teach our children...and possibly one of the hardest as well. How do we show them how harmful and hurtful it can be to judge someone else? The examples that we get in life are usually just that...hurtful and harmful. You never know what the situation is in someone else's house. We all have to live our lives the way that works for us. Doesn't make us bad, just different. How boring would this life be if we were all the same? And lets face facts...there is only ONE judgement day and only ONE true judge. (Ok now that doesn't mean people should run around willy nilly breaking the law! :) ) Personally, I tend to look for the good in a person instead of zooming in on the bad. But that again comes with years and experience...something that I learned along the way. My Mom told me once that when she was a girl in school (Catholic) that they actually taught "Tolerance". I think that today whether public,private, or religious schools should all be teaching this important subject. We are all different and thats OK!<br />
<br />
Her second is about accepting help, which yes...you absolutely do need help and should accept if offered. My help comes in the form of my 21 year old (and of course hubby but he works and his time is limited). When I need that few minutes I know I can count on her to help. Thats the another thing about having this baby so late in life. When we were younger, so were our parents. We could take the kids to their house and get some time to ourselves. Now both of our Dads are gone and Mom's are both in a small apartments with some health issues. I am the youngest in my family and so all my siblings are even older than I! (I know right? Hard to imagine? lol) They are all busy with their kids and grandchildren. Not that they would not love to have that time with my Little Miss...just its harder now. I guess that to a certain extent, I feel I am a seasoned parent and sometimes put that pressure on my self to handle it all...not a good thing. I guess<br />
this is something that I still need work on lol.<br />
<br />
Her third was about False Guilt. Well heck, I have all kinds of guilt. False, Fact...Fiction! ACK. :) But she makes an excellent point about saying "NO". I loved her example of saying No to someone due to nap time. EXCELLENT! Each kid has their own schedule and what works for them. My Little Miss needs that nap or by bed time she is a wailing, snotty (literally and figuratively) mess. I make a point of trying to get that nap in. The way I see it...is until she is 18 I am hers. We are going to do this in a way that works for us. If others dont like it ...fine. But each family has to decide what does and doesnt work for them.<br />
<br />
I think in todays society that way too much time and energy is spent worrying about what the neighbors/others have, do, think etc. I don't care what they have as long as it is in their yard, doesn't attract flies/critters and isn't dangerous. I dont care what they do, as long as it is with in the limits of the law, they are respectful to my family, and pick up the dog poopies. (LOL) I dont care what they think!!!! No one has lived my life. No one has had to make the decisions that I have (some good some not so much). So, I say...Accept me as I am or don't. Really the choice is easy. The people that come first on my list are the ones that live in this house. Those are the ones I have to answer to. I will do what is best for us and our family and I pray that each of you will do the same.<br />
<br />
Check out her article, inspiring to see the blossoming of a young mother...its all so overwhelming and emotional. Beautiful that she shared her experience with us.<br />
<a href="http://www.wisebread.com/3-life-lessons-ive-learned-since-becoming-a-parent">http://www.wisebread.com/3-life-lessons-ive-learned-since-becoming-a-parent</a><br />
<br />
<br />
I hope that you all have a love filled and blessed day. I am off to take a walk with Little Miss before the heat of the day sets in. When I get back I will be finishing up a project that I have been working on since mothers day...and OHHHH what a project this has been! lol I can hardly wait to show it off and have had a hard time not mentioning it or giving a peek. Needless to say...stay tuned!<br />
<br />
Oh and remember...pick up a can...a bottle...put it in the recycling today...or better yet CREATE something wonderful with it!<br />
<br />
After a long and busy week I wanted to take a minute and share with you some of my crochet and knitting. I was inspired to relearn knitting after seeing a tutorial on Pinterest. Lets start with the credit here, a lovely site FULL of fun practical ideas that dont break the bank! To add to that, I found (again thru Pinterst) a mini series tutorial to learn knitting. Now let me explain, about 6 years or so ago, I actually taught myself how to knit from a book that I had. I was really starting to enjoy it when I found out I was pregnant and it seem the whole world changed from that point lol. Now here we are 3 years later and I am getting back into the swing of crafts etc. So when I saw this pin for a knitting tut, I thought it was a good time to dig out the knitting needles and give it a try. I have to say, I am "hooked" again! A piece that I was working on years ago is now back in progress and I am just tickled. :) So today I thought I would show off some of the items that I have made and am currently working on. :)<br />
<br />
Before I get too far tho here is the link to the site I found this nifty Tutorial!<br />
<a href="http://www.makeit-loveit.com/">http://www.makeit-loveit.com/</a> but dont stop there check out the whole site, definitely worth your time to peruse!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-t-QBP0tr6pk/T63cPLUkGTI/AAAAAAAAAKA/lNtnjl99wYs/s1600/washcloths.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="314" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-t-QBP0tr6pk/T63cPLUkGTI/AAAAAAAAAKA/lNtnjl99wYs/s320/washcloths.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my set of four washcloths that I made after following the wonderful tutorial!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It really was the perfect way to refresh my memory and would be an excellent Tutorial for anyone that wants to start knitting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AMynDf2OQmk/T63dHjvq6oI/AAAAAAAAAKI/enRiMS5W60s/s1600/knitting.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AMynDf2OQmk/T63dHjvq6oI/AAAAAAAAAKI/enRiMS5W60s/s320/knitting.jpg" width="263" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here you see the washcloths again (color here is more accurate) and the other two pieces that I did years ago. Those two are actually not knitted yarn but cording and quite durable. The solid color one I am currently finishing and can hardly wait to see it done. Should be a very cool bag as well as the other one. I really enjoy working with different materials. You can see the size of the spools that the cord comes on and when that spool runs out I need to find something to use it for lol.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are some of the pieces that I have crocheted over the years. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KIqbmpfd7a4/T63ecRuE0bI/AAAAAAAAAKY/2ZToHZUFN90/s1600/bnwafgan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KIqbmpfd7a4/T63ecRuE0bI/AAAAAAAAAKY/2ZToHZUFN90/s320/bnwafgan.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This first one is HUGE. It is actually folded in quarters...and covers a queen size mattress.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It took me 10 years from start to finish (with time off in between lol).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have to say its a favorite and so soft from all the washing. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ud1UqE8SZIU/T63ejyAM3tI/AAAAAAAAAKg/YGqggsmbi7g/s1600/crochet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="193" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ud1UqE8SZIU/T63ejyAM3tI/AAAAAAAAAKg/YGqggsmbi7g/s320/crochet.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Two more. The one on the left makes me hungry every time I look at it. All I can think is vanilla ice cream, caramel and chocolate! Uggg now I need ice cream! The one on the right is crocheted with the cording that you saw above.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--lhw2UFFxbc/T63flP297eI/AAAAAAAAAKo/igN-PyPNoEo/s1600/Luggage+table.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--lhw2UFFxbc/T63flP297eI/AAAAAAAAAKo/igN-PyPNoEo/s320/Luggage+table.jpg" width="314" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The one here on the chair I didnt make, but my Mom did when she was 8 or 9. She was sick and home for several weeks from school. Gramma kept her busy and quiet with yarn. :) I just love having this one in my craft room, it gives a sense of comfort...bringing the generations together. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well those are all my goodies for tonight and I had better head to bed before my cheek is resting on the keyboard!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks to anyone who stops to look, I hope you saw something that inspired you to recycle, reuse or upcycle!</div>
<br />
Today we have lovely sunshine and warm weather, looking for some storms later. But for now its a wonderful summery feeling day. I hope that where ever you are that you are having a day like we are.<br />
<br />
I thought I would share some of what we have been up to the last few days. Pinterest has been a great source of inspiration for me. I have to say that every day I see something that sparks that crafting feeling in me. I love it!<br />
<br />
One of the things we did the other day was Raised Salt Painting. Here is the Pin link: <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/256775616224566371/">http://pinterest.com/pin/256775616224566371/</a> <br />
<br />
We had a great time working on this. My Little Miss had so much fun and really did very well with the whole project. She needed a bit of help with the squeezing of the glue bottle and shaking off the salt but other than that she was golden. We have a few pictures to share.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I-Im6UB1Rbk/T6LjPfI_8rI/AAAAAAAAAJE/Fn1wq9To_7E/s1600/Supplies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I-Im6UB1Rbk/T6LjPfI_8rI/AAAAAAAAAJE/Fn1wq9To_7E/s320/Supplies.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Supplies: Glue, Salt, Construction paper, colored water</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We used food dye and water so simple.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6--u2F2TVhg/T6LjIZA-3sI/AAAAAAAAAI8/wJ06HEBuSIY/s1600/Moms.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6--u2F2TVhg/T6LjIZA-3sI/AAAAAAAAAI8/wJ06HEBuSIY/s320/Moms.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sissy was home and she did one too.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She is studying to be a teacher so it was a good project for her too!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We really did enjoy it. I found that the qtips held enough liquid to drip it on the salt. The hardest part for my Little Miss was learning to "dab" the qtip rather than try to paint with it lol. We found that ours were a bit on the dry side, I think that we maybe didn't shake off enough of the salt. None the less we had a blast!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think next time we might plan ahead and have some clear spray paint or something to top it off. Its pretty crumbly and I am afraid to move them lol.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
A little quicky project I did while Little Miss was napping, was this simple keep em busy maze!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Mine isn't as pretty as the one on Pinterest, but Little Miss LOVED it! Tho she is still a bit confused how to use it and we are working on that lol. She wants lots of marbles in there at one time. I also used some smaller straws to section off a couple areas since our marbles are smaller (from the hungry hungry hippo game).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love having something fun for her when she wakes up from a good nap...and this was a fun something to have. I also let her "color" it with her markers. She does love those markers!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also thought I would show off the pretty orange tulips from my yard. They were way too pretty to leave way out at the back of my yard to we snipped them and brought them in to enjoy! The crocheted lace around the neck of the jar is the last bit that I have of what my Grandma did. I love that it looks so perfect with our spring display.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Dw9W-bgEYYo/T6L1jZ_lcdI/AAAAAAAAAJo/kBam1QtMjaM/s1600/Tulips.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="176" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Dw9W-bgEYYo/T6L1jZ_lcdI/AAAAAAAAAJo/kBam1QtMjaM/s320/Tulips.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Isn't that pretty? I must say it makes me smile every time I look at it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thankfully the tulips bloomed just in time, since our lily of the valley was starting to poop out!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am looking forward to the peonies and waiting for my lilacs to bloom too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love spring!~</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So...coming up soon will be crochet/knitting post. Have been relearning how to knit and have been enjoying it! Looking forward to sharing it with you. </div>
But no worries, I am lovin every minute of it! Originally I had no thoughts of painting...as much as I would love everything to be "matchy matchy" thats not usually in my budget. Over the years my room has been put together with the odd pieces of unused furniture. That works for me because the goal was to have workspace...and that I have. However after posting the original pics and looking thru Pinterest at other craft room re-do's, it got me to thinking that I could do some spiffing up along the way. A while back I found a fellow freecycler that had some open and partially used wall paint to give away. Because I am always painting something somewhere. I picked up about 20 cans of paint. A couple of them were too dry to use, but many of them had at least half or more still left. The two colors that I chose were what I would call a "raisin" and a "dusty rose"...I have to say, man...I am lovin it. I never imagined that this old work bench could look so pretty!<br />
<br />
So today I will give you a peek...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q8V7yc8dxpo/T5wTrHTgN7I/AAAAAAAAAIU/7Z6KUxWKKXw/s1600/WorkbenchBeforeAfter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q8V7yc8dxpo/T5wTrHTgN7I/AAAAAAAAAIU/7Z6KUxWKKXw/s320/WorkbenchBeforeAfter.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This workbench was in the basement of our house when we moved in 16 yrs ago, and I staked claim to it immediately. In the beginning I had a desktop that I laid over it...later I was given some bigger tops that I now use in an "L" shape for my work area (along with an old dresser for the other side). The bench looked just as it did in the before. Rough and not pretty but serviceable still. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So...with this part painted...it seemed kind of silly to leave the dresser unpainted that holds up the other side of the workbench top. :) Am I right? Unfortunately I wasnt smart enough to get a before picture of that one...the only pic I have is of the back of it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ALQZS0re8_w/T5wZ1sPzYVI/AAAAAAAAAIg/fuXt_3n2qdM/s1600/DresserBeforeAfter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ALQZS0re8_w/T5wZ1sPzYVI/AAAAAAAAAIg/fuXt_3n2qdM/s320/DresserBeforeAfter.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now of course since I have done these two pieces...I am considering a couple others as well. Hoping that between the two cans I have enough to do what I want. But if nothing else these two pieces look great. I even managed to fix the shelves in the dresser so that they are once again flat and as you can see below work beautifully to hold my tubs filled with ribbons etc.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FS-J0vjzoAs/T5wbZbxxEyI/AAAAAAAAAIo/iCC20mlVEc4/s1600/DSCN2308.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FS-J0vjzoAs/T5wbZbxxEyI/AAAAAAAAAIo/iCC20mlVEc4/s320/DSCN2308.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I still have so much organizing to do. But slowly I am getting there.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ywXIcSwedPo/T5wb9wmYlyI/AAAAAAAAAIw/pJ0SnC9L4QU/s1600/Lighter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ywXIcSwedPo/T5wb9wmYlyI/AAAAAAAAAIw/pJ0SnC9L4QU/s320/Lighter.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I took two bookshelves that are the same height and laid an old top from a desk across them to make yet another work area. If you look on the left side of the picture you can see the white bookshelf. Later I will show a close up of that area but was tickled that my dry erase board was the perfect front for the white shelf. I popped a couple hinges on it and attached it to the shelf. Inside are all of my paints and now they are hidden away from curious 3 yr old fingers. I am considering painting those two shelves to match with the rest...we will see if I have the energy to back it up! ha!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So it seems that the craft room will be an on going deal while I craft around and thru the process. I hope that you have enjoyed a peek into my craft world and hope that you come back again to see more. </div>
While in the midst of this organizing rearranging cleaning project...I wanted to find a place for papers, cardstocks,etc. These things were in different places and it was time to get them all together. Years ago (talking like 13-14 years ago) I purchased this card board 4 drawer put it together yourself small dresser.Over the years its been used in a variety of ways and rooms. Most recently (with in the last 3 years) it was cut in half to make two smaller "dressers" with 2 drawers each. I had to tape in a false bottom at that time to make it work, but once again it was in use. Now however its time to do that again but wow, it's pretty worn looking. Hmmm what to do? Lets see. No money to spend. But I do have some left over contact paper from (again) years ago. Lets see what I can do to these bad boys to make them a bit more presentable. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_8kpinaCChk/T5v8qwn2CBI/AAAAAAAAAHo/921DKy9IvPw/s1600/IMG_033211114.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="234" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_8kpinaCChk/T5v8qwn2CBI/AAAAAAAAAHo/921DKy9IvPw/s320/IMG_033211114.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is one of the two that need done. As you can see they have had better days.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8n46anjDQYw/T5v8rgGauLI/AAAAAAAAAHw/NglVYHA9TLo/s1600/IMG_033311113.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8n46anjDQYw/T5v8rgGauLI/AAAAAAAAAHw/NglVYHA9TLo/s320/IMG_033311113.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Even tho they are beat up they still have some life in them! I had two rolls of contact paper from a fathers day project years ago. Both with a marble look to them. I knew that I only had so much paper and made the decision not to cover the back or the bottom of each set. Only minimal parts of the inside were done as well.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-v8BQUHaxHdE/T5v8sok-r2I/AAAAAAAAAH4/afYyjD37JpI/s1600/IMG_038911115.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-v8BQUHaxHdE/T5v8sok-r2I/AAAAAAAAAH4/afYyjD37JpI/s320/IMG_038911115.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The finished product! I have to say I am pretty pleased with the way they turned out. :)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7b3yMAGKFEM/T5v8taDN7LI/AAAAAAAAAIA/r06ilPKtSGI/s1600/IMG_039211118.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7b3yMAGKFEM/T5v8taDN7LI/AAAAAAAAAIA/r06ilPKtSGI/s320/IMG_039211118.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Close up Front (yes, I know more practice with lighting!)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jyD_1uVFgR4/T5v8t5xFW5I/AAAAAAAAAII/ocdV8teFPgo/s1600/IMG_039311117.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="289" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jyD_1uVFgR4/T5v8t5xFW5I/AAAAAAAAAII/ocdV8teFPgo/s320/IMG_039311117.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Side view.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really love the way they turned out, but now I have two other issues lol. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First, I am afraid that my cardstocks and cards that I want to reuse are a bit too heavy for these drawers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Second, the paper doesn't really match with the paint work that I did on my workbench (next post to show that)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So...I will be looking for another solution to organizing the papers but until then this is their home and I am absolutely positive that they will get good use no matter what I wind up using them for!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Garbage to gold. Love it.</div>
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I believe I mentioned in a previous post that my little one has quite the kitchen set up. She actually has two kitchen centers and a ton of stuff to use in it. I do not understand the thinking behind the design on some of these kitchen centers. The compartments are all rounded at the back corners and many of them have ridges in the shelves. Why is that an issue? Well when trying to put baby bottles in the fridge they don't even stand up! Things wind up falling over and it really doesn't make sense to me. So here is our solution. Good old plastic canvas, which I happened to have in quantity here at home. I made open top boxes to fit inside of all of the cubby holes on both kitchen centers. I have to say they have really worked out great and now the Little Miss has plenty of storage room and is herself learning to organize. Never too early to teach that!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bk4-SdoFXqU/T5ve8lZCdfI/AAAAAAAAAGg/fcbuthMMpMo/s1600/IMG_035711095.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bk4-SdoFXqU/T5ve8lZCdfI/AAAAAAAAAGg/fcbuthMMpMo/s320/IMG_035711095.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: 13px; text-align: center;">The placemats for her table. Complete with pockets for silver and a loop on the side for a napkin. Yes we had napkins in there...she got to them before Momma was able to get her pictures done. </span>
<br />
<span style="font-size: 13px; text-align: center;"><br /></span><br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0w-GzObC-zw/T5ve9AjOS7I/AAAAAAAAAGo/oOCqhLy1JWQ/s1600/IMG_035811094.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0w-GzObC-zw/T5ve9AjOS7I/AAAAAAAAAGo/oOCqhLy1JWQ/s320/IMG_035811094.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Add caption</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: 13px; text-align: center;">The upper portion on one of the kitchen centers...again curved corners at the back made it hard to put more than a couple items in there at a time with out a land slide. The open box on top to hold her coffee cups and the simple shelf below for her plates keeps it all together.</span> <div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This little cubby hole above the fridge was just perfect for all her canned goods and the drawer slides in and out easily. We made a large round one for her fridge to hold her eggs.<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: 13px;">The fridge on the other kitchen actually had a shelf in it...again with rounded back corners. 3 boxes help to keep all her baby bottles and milk jugs in order.</span> </div>
Here are her bins with all of her food stuffs sorted out and easy to get to.<br />
<span style="font-size: 13px; text-align: center;">We even saved some plastic containers from the recycling bin and prepackaged some of her food. You know, for when Burger/Sandwich/Chicken Dinner fast craving. :) My plan is to make some cool stickers to put on the top with a Mom made logo for her "Mini Kitchen".</span><br class="Apple-interchange-newline" /><div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="font-size: 13px;">
I just thought I would show you this as well. Little Miss has this easel that she uses daily for painting. While cleaning the craft room I found some rolls of fax paper....hmmm what do I need these for? Light bulb blinks on! A sturdy piece of string thru the middle and over the top holds it and she is able to pull down fresh paper when needed. After the initial conversation about not pulling down more than needed (as half of it was on the floor and mommy was rolling it back up...) she has done great with a little at a time.</div>
<div style="font-size: 13px;">
Yes, I admit. I am addicted. No. I dont want help with my addiction. I am happy finding finds each time I look. I am inspired and feel the kindred spirits out there. No matter what you like/love/crave/want/have/need/...it's there! Personally I am addicted to anything craft and that's my main focus. Though I have strayed into other areas. Please feel free to take a look. Be inspired! I know I am!<br />
<br />
So in my Pinterest travels one of the items that I came across was the home version of Mod Podge. I was stunned to see that it was the same thing that I had been doing here at home for years...I guess I just never put it together before. Talk about a light bulb moment. Again I was ahead of my time and didnt even know it! ha!<br />
<br />
But I will take it one step further for you. I don't know about you...but I get this thrill when I am able to save something from being tossed into the garbage and save money at the same time!! So, don't throw away those bottles of glue that are drying out and kind of gummy inside they can be "recycled". I happened to have quite a few bottles of glue like that. I found them while organizing in the project craft room and decided that I would share my "Mom Podge" project with you. <br />
<br />
From garbage to gold...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These were the supplies that I used.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
*Gummy Old White Glue and Tacky Glue</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
*Water</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
*Bottle to store Mom Podge in</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
*A wooden skewer (used for breaking up and stirring glue when still in bottle)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
*double boiler</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
*whisk</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
*strainer</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-06j4K4jie7w/T5tYGwahvkI/AAAAAAAAAEM/3FDftnrM3II/s1600/IMG_034911100+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-06j4K4jie7w/T5tYGwahvkI/AAAAAAAAAEM/3FDftnrM3II/s320/IMG_034911100+(2).jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the container that I chose to use for my Mom Podge.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had a couple bottles of white glue and a smidge of Mod Podge that hadn't gone gluey yet.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used a couple large rubber bands from top to bottom to hold the bottles upside down so</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
they could drain while I worked with the other stuff.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FcVh7KFRp8Q/T5tYw6eI87I/AAAAAAAAAFE/JqPxL_M0e6k/s1600/Fixed+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FcVh7KFRp8Q/T5tYw6eI87I/AAAAAAAAAFE/JqPxL_M0e6k/s320/Fixed+1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These are some of my gummy gluey ones. As you can see they were solid enough that the wooden stick I had to stir with stood up straight lol. I put a bit of water in each bottle and put 6 in at a time to warm. I did NOT move away from the microwave while warming them. Well... I didn't after the first time. NOTE: DO NOT OVER HEAT. Result: Icky burning smell...and bubbling white (now yellowish) glue on the roof of the microwave. *sigh* So...a few seconds at a time warm them, stir them, add more water if needed and repeat the process until you have the consistency of glue. If your glue is as far gone as mine and you have as much as I did...keep reading.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-06j4K4jie7w/T5tYGwahvkI/AAAAAAAAAEM/3FDftnrM3II/s1600/IMG_034911100+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-06j4K4jie7w/T5tYGwahvkI/AAAAAAAAAEM/3FDftnrM3II/s1600/IMG_034911100+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a> <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--p8GfT3kayo/T5tYHjK41oI/AAAAAAAAAEc/_sNZRu0qEh8/s1600/IMG_035311098.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--p8GfT3kayo/T5tYHjK41oI/AAAAAAAAAEc/_sNZRu0qEh8/s320/IMG_035311098.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you can see after heating a bit, I did still have some lumps. With the quantity that I was working with I after getting mine to the "lumpy" stage, I dumped it all into a double boiler to finish off.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wCdFQVbPmBg/T5tiqq76IdI/AAAAAAAAAFs/4VALRxT50ro/s1600/fixed3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wCdFQVbPmBg/T5tiqq76IdI/AAAAAAAAAFs/4VALRxT50ro/s320/fixed3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Low fire a lot of stirring adding water if needed. That's the hard part. I can hear some of you out there saying..."How much water?" I cannot tell you that. You will have to eyeball it. Better to start with too little than too much. Any water added will help the softening process when heating it. Sorry that I cannot be more specific, but it really depends on how gummy yours is. When I felt that I had gotten as much of the lumpiness out of it that I could I set up my strainer and receiving container...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YhTqmuQTuNA/T5tYJL40LYI/AAAAAAAAAEs/E3w6Io9KHD8/s1600/IMG_037011105.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YhTqmuQTuNA/T5tYJL40LYI/AAAAAAAAAEs/E3w6Io9KHD8/s320/IMG_037011105.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I set up this shot above and thought "Huh...that's not gonna work!" I would suggest that if your strainer is this big and your container that small you find the appropriate size receptacle to catch your Mom Podge. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bPvYoAGbOgY/T5tYJmxby2I/AAAAAAAAAE0/5Sj8ZhWm5S8/s1600/IMG_037111104.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bPvYoAGbOgY/T5tYJmxby2I/AAAAAAAAAE0/5Sj8ZhWm5S8/s320/IMG_037111104.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you can see after letting the liquid run thru I still had some firmer pieces, I used my thumb to work those through the strainer and into the liquid.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8jB3dSFYeWo/T5tYKHJPxmI/AAAAAAAAAE8/DMhI1Al2xio/s1600/IMG_037211103.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8jB3dSFYeWo/T5tYKHJPxmI/AAAAAAAAAE8/DMhI1Al2xio/s320/IMG_037211103.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was beautiful! White and creamy. I poured it all into my the container that I had chosen to store it in, closed it up and left it on the counter. Several times throughout the day I gave it a good shake. By the end of the day it was back to the consistency of white glue. From there I added water to bring it to the consistency I wanted. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is my final product. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are two of the items that I have used the Mom Podge on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The heart is from this past Christmas and the Chest on the right was done at least 12 years ago. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So if you wonder if this works and holds...Yes...Yes it does.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So...give it a try...save some glue from the garbage today!</div>
Have fun!<br />
